Admission to the ACPS

There are currently three categories of membership within the Australasian College of Podiatric Surgeons (ACPS).

Registrar

Registrars of the ACPS are podiatrists that have been granted entry into the ACPS surgical training program. The Registrar admission requirements for the ACPS include a Bachelors Degree in Podiatry, State Registration, a minimum of two years clinical experience, a pass in a number of post graduate core units, and acceptance into an approved Masters Degree. Once a candidate has successfully completed the requirements of the College to become a Registrar (trainee) a supervisor is appointed and he/she is then able to undertake Fellowship training.  Please note that the ACPS does not guarantee that positions within the practical training program will be available at any given time.  Availability of training positions depends on various factors and all positions are highly competitive.  For more detail on the requirements to become a Registrar please refer to the ACPS Training Document under Policies & Documents (This document is currently under review and not available) .

Fellow

Fellows of the ACPS are podiatrists who have completed all stages of their ACPS surgical training program and are competent to perform foot and ankle surgery. Registrars seeking Fellowship of the ACPS must undertake a supervised practical training program with satisfactory completion of a range of assessment tasks including the completion of a Masters degree (Research or Course-work) approved by the ACPS, and pass the Final Examination. For more detail on the requirements for Fellowship please refer to the ACPS Training Document under Policies & Documents (This document is currently under review and not available) .
